The menu is where Watercolour truly shines. The lamb chops have become a favorite among patrons, known for their exquisite flavor and perfectly tender texture. Additionally, the grilled octopus appetizer is frequently acclaimed as a must-try, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to elegant seafood dishes. For pasta lovers, the seafood linguine offers a hearty option, although it’s worth noting that the noodles can be on the firmer side, which may not cater to everyone's preference.
The attention to detail extends beyond the food; the wine list is thoughtfully selected, ensuring that there’s something to pair beautifully with your meal. This is a fine touch that adds to the overall experience, whether you prefer a robust red or a refreshing white.
The hospitality at Watercolour is another highlight; guests frequently commend the team's dedication to making each visit memorable. From accommodating special requests to offering personalized service, the staff goes above and beyond, making you feel truly valued. Notably, one guest shared their exceptional experience hosting a bridal shower, showcasing the restaurant’s knack for turning ordinary moments into cherished memories.
While the food and service are undeniably impressive, some reviews have noted minor concerns regarding noise levels when the dining area is full, as well as the wear of the interior decor. However, these aspects do little to detract from the overall charm and character that Watercolour exudes.
With fair prices for the quality, Watercolour Mediterranean Restaurant Unionville stands out as a top pick for those seeking a delightful dive into Mediterranean cuisine. Whether you’re here for the enticing dishes or the inviting atmosphere, a visit to Watercolour promises to be an experience worth savoring.
“ Watercolor is a hidden gem inside Markham — I’ve been here a few times and always enjoyed the atmosphere. I usually end up seated on the first floor, which is already quite nice, but I’ve heard the second floor is even better. Just a tip: if you want to sit upstairs, make sure to note it when making your reservation, otherwise they won’t assign it by default. Food-wise, the lamb chops are a must — cooked beautifully and full of flavor. The grilled octopus appetizer is also a standout. I tried the seafood linguine as well; it was decent, but just a heads-up that the pasta is on the firmer side. If you prefer softer noodles, this one might not be your favorite. They also have a solid wine list with plenty of choices. Parking is free, which is always appreciated. Overall, the setting feels special and would be great for birthdays, anniversaries, or just a nice dinner out. Prices are fair for the quality, and the service is consistent — not overly attentive, but everything runs smoothly. ”
“ We hosted a bridal shower at this restaurant and had the most incredible experience! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond — especially Justin, who truly made the day unforgettable. They generously let us come in before opening to set up our decorations, which was such a thoughtful gesture. The food was absolutely delicious — every single dish was a hit with our guests! On top of that, Justin helped us take tons of group photos and captured so many great memories for us. When we asked for syrup for one of our cold drinks, they didn’t have any on hand — so they actually made it fresh for us. That level of care and attention is rare. Truly the best hospitality we’ve ever experienced. Thank you for making our celebration so special — highly, highly recommend! ”
“ Getting reservations was relatively easy and convenient. We’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for a while. The atmosphere in several spots is nice.. it really depends where you sit. But the set up is very close. I can literally grab food off of my neighbors table if I wanted to. When the dining area was full, it was nosier than I would have liked. I had to keep asking my friend to repeat what they said in order to hear them. Food -in general. Delicious, very good and flavours were amazing. Tuna tartar - great but nothing to write home about. Fresh avocado, the chips were light and crunchy. Calamari - very good, but also standard. Batter was a bit soggier than I’d liked Octopus - extremely delicious. Tender, grilled to perfection. My fave app of the 3 Seafood risotto - so good! So much seafood. Risotto was flavourful. Not overpowering the seafood. My favourite dish of the night Steak - cooked to perfection, delicious and juicy. Frites were dense and heavy. Not what I expected but also delicious. Peach flan - very good, creme was very nice! Cheesecake - it was good, on the sweeter side for my liking. Overall I would definitely come again. Maybe ask for the balcony seating ”
“ Watercolour Mediterranean Restaurant in Unionville exceeded all expectations! I had the perfectly cooked rack of lamb—tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. My girlfriend indulged in the lobster tail pasta, which was rich, decadent, and full of fresh seafood flavor. To top off the evening, we shared the cheesecake, which was light, creamy, and the ideal sweet finish. The atmosphere was cozy yet upscale, and the staff were attentive and welcoming, making the whole experience unforgettable. Whether for a romantic dinner or a special occasion, this spot is a must-visit. We'll definitely be back! ”
“ The food was delicious. Very tasty elevated greek salad. The seafood platter was cooked perfectly and served on a bed of a bean salad. There is an art to cooking calamari and jumbo shrimp so they are tender and tasty and they have that down to an art. I gave the atmosphere a 4 because it’s an kld building and the interior finishes are showing their age wear and tear, and the trip to the toilet is a bit smelly. ”
“ A beautiful spot in Unionville with exceptional service. The server, Michelle was welcoming and knowledgeable about both the wine list and the full menu, enhancing the dining experience. A fantastic place to visit. Food and desserts were absolutely delicious. ”
“ The food was really delicious. Lamb chops were fatty containing very little meat but tasted really really delicious. The steak was mouthwatering. We ordered well done steak and medium done lamb chops, they are both (almost) well done. Parking is available right behind the restaurant and free. The Unionville main Street, where the restaurant is located, is lovely to explore; ancient buildings and many stores worth visiting. There was construction the time we visited but you can still drive in and park your car. ”
“ The menu was simple but with the right amount of a selection. The table where we sat, was very unique, intimate and cute. Great spot if you like people watching. Would definitely come back to try the baked feta and other dishes they offer. Side note, if the server ask if you need assistance to debone the fish, do note there will still be lots of bone in it. I would probably opt out in my next visit. ”
